Did you mean to say you have tried to uninstall NAV but were unable to
do so? If so, that's a serious problem in itself. Note, it doesn't
take many hours in troubleshooting before it's more efficient to ghost
or backup/wipe/rebuild.

Subject: System occasionally locks up on shutdown

Windows 2k system SP3, office 2k, NAV 8.0.. System will occasionally
lock up when shutting down. It will either lock up at the blue screen
just after the saving your settings windows disappears or it will lock
up just after that at a black screen with a blinking cursor, but system
does not respond to CTRL-ALT-DEL. The user started another installation
of windows 2000 and I managed to finish it without loosing anything, but
it still comes back to this problem and it happens maybe 50% of the
time. When I set this computer up originally, (its a Dell Dimension)
windows was able to install most components without problem. Installed a
few drivers from Dell. System was working ok for a while but started
doing this about 3 months ago. The user has not installed any other apps
and does not run windows update, tho I have done this recently. I have
tried to uninstall NAV to see if this is causing the problem but it does
not work. So, looking for any info on what all could be causing this to
happen. In addition this system sometimes has problems when opening
Windows Explorer, it will just show the searching flashlight in the
right pane. I suspect that this is related to NAV but could this problem
and the lockups be related?
