Looking at that Q article it sure looks like a vague MS answer as they don't
go into detail on what the service is needed for other than DDNS: "This
behavior may occur even if the system is not using DHCP to obtain an IP
address" Not WILL occur, but MAY occur. I read that as "DHCP client isn't
required for resolving DNS, but you're having problems, turn the DHCP client
service on".

Hmm.. That's got to be some funky cosmic convergence. I've run Win2k clients
in both native and mixed mode domains with the DHCP service disabled without
that issue.
