Thank you Hans. I had meanwhile installed TexLive, and then installed the new version of pdftex. However the problem is now that (like what earlier Samuel Lacas had complained) I get (2)(2)(2) kind of pattern at the first page of the document. Apparently he complains this for MikTex, while my current installation is TexLive.
