please mail me the script you're using for crashing ntop and I'll see what I can do.
Thanks, Luca

I am trying to develop a small monitoring system around ntop. I have
compiled the ntop-2.2 source rpm on RedHat 7.3, running kernel 2.4.18
compiled from vanilla sources. The box is fully patched and up to date
otherwise. I have added a one line patch to ntop which resets the
statistics when sent a HUP signal from the command line.
(The final box running ntop will not necessarily have a good power supply).
My script queries ntop via the http interface every five minutes. ntop will randomly hang after two to four hours and will not respond to any queries until it is restarted. I have set ntop to restart every hour currently, but this is not a proper solution. Sometimes the ntop restart itself fails. (I move around a bit in the daytime to deal with clients, and don't always have access to my workstation).
