The state is saved immediately in the prefs db as it's being processed. You can run strings on it then grep -i sflow and see what's set.
# strings /usr/share/ntop/prefsCache.db | grep -i sflow although you'll have to manually poke at that - maybe put it into a file and add line breaks... Post the startup messages from the log. When you make the changes, re-enter the plugins page (knock down the browser, restart it, admin | plugins) and see if there's a red message on sFlow, or if it's listed then as active (could be a cached page, although that piece isn't supposed to, some proxies think they're smarter than the instructions in the html text). There's not been a lot of feedback about sFlow, so I'm not aware of any users out there... gang? -----Burton -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Scott Stone Sent: Tuesday, June 03, 2003 5:02 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Ntop] problem with ntop not closing correctly or saving plugin config state ... otherwise everything works fine.... :) problem report follows: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- n t o p v e r s i o n '2.2' p r o b l e m r e p o r t From: ___Scott Stone___________________________ EMail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: 2003-06-03 21:45:41 GMT ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- Summary OS: _Linux_________ version: __SuSE 8.1________ ntop from: ____source__________________________ (rpm, source, ports, etc.) Hardware: CPU: _i686____ (i86, SPARC, etc.) # Processors: __1___ Memory: __1024___ MB Network: Network Interface 0 eth0 Ethernet: 9763 Broadcast: 226 Multicast: 865 IP: 9126 Mfg: ____________________ Model: ____________________ NIC Speed: 10/*100*/1000/Other Bus: *PCI* ISA USB Firewire Other Location: Public Internet / LAN / WAN Bandwidth: Dialup DSL/CableModem fT1 T1 10Mbps T3 100Mbps+ # Hosts (machines): __________ Network Interface 1 sFlow-device Ethernet: 12149 Broadcast: 14 Multicast: 22 IP: 12126 Mfg: ____________________ Model: ____________________ NIC Speed: 10/100/1000/Other Bus: PCI ISA USB Firewire Other Location: Public Internet / LAN / WAN Bandwidth: Dialup DSL/CableModem fT1 T1 10Mbps T3 100Mbps+ # Hosts (machines): __________ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- Log extract ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- Problem Description When I click ADMIN, I enable all the sFlow stuff... it never lists the plugin as 'active' even though it appears to collect data properly. However, when I shut down ntop, if I restart it I have to re-enter all this information - is it not supposed to be saved between restarts? Also, when I try to shut down ntop, it unloads the plugins and *hangs* and must be killed with a SIGKILL (signal 9). Hm, these problems might be related. Let me know if you need further output, ie, an strace or whatnot. I tried searching through the pipermail archives but came up empty. Great tool, though, and I do have workarounds for these annoyances.. but would be great if I could solve them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- ntop version.....2.2 Built on.....06/03/03 02:09:30 PM OS.....i686-pc-linux-gnu Process Id.....21090 Command line Started as..../usr/local/ntop/bin/ntop -C -u wwwrun -w 3000 -E Resolved to..../usr/local/ntop/bin/ntop -C -u wwwrun -w 3000 -E Command line parameters are: -a | --access-log-path.....(default) (nil) -b | --disable-decoders.....(default) No -c | --sticky-hosts.....(default) No -d | --daemon.....No -e | --max-table-rows.....(default) 128 -f | --traffic-dump-file.....(default) (nil) -g | --track-local-hosts.....(default) Track all hosts -o | --no-mac.....(default) Trust MAC Addresses -i | --interface (effective).....eth0 -k | --filter-expression-in-extra-frame.....(default) No -l | --pcap-log.....(default) (nil) -m | --local-subnets (effective)..... -n | --numeric-ip-addresses.....(default) No -p | --protocols.....(default) internal list -q | --create-suspicious-packets.....(default) Disabled -r | --refresh-time.....(default) 120 -s | --no-promiscuous.....(default) No -t | --trace-level.....(default) 3 -u | --user.....wwwrun (uid=30, gid=65534) -w | --http-server.....(default) Active, all interfaces, port 3000 -z | --disable-sessions.....(default) No -B | --filter-expression.....(default) none -D | --domain.....palmsource.com -E | --enable-external-tools.....Yes -F | --flow-spec.....(default) none -K | --enable-debug.....(default) No -L | --use-syslog.....No -M | --no-interface-merge (effective).....(parameter -M set, Interfaces separate) No -O | --pcap-file-path.....(default) /usr/local/ntop/var/ntop -P | --db-file-path.....(default) /usr/local/ntop/var/ntop -U | --mapper.....(default) (nil) -W | --https-server.....Uninitialized --throughput-chart-type.....(default) Area --ignore-sigpipe.....(default) No --ssl-watchdog.....(default) No --dynamic-purge-limits.....(default) No --reuse-rrd-graphics.....(default) No --p3p-cp.....(default) none --p3p-uri.....(default) none --disable-stopcap.....(default) No Note: (effective) means that this is the value after ntop has processed the parameter.
