Yes I have libpcap, its installed (I'm installed it from source). Version is "libpcap0-0.7.1"
"nm | grep pcap_open_live show any lines ?" it shows "nm: a.out: No such file or directory" "ls libpcap*" shows "libpcap.a libpcap.so@ libpcap.so.0@ libpcap.so.0.7*" >You may have a system that is crippled for ntop in an attempt to >make it more secure. Yes it was crippled, but I installed every thing needed to compile. For example gcc, make ... And I attached my config.log file for more info. I don't have any clue with this error until now. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Stanley Hopcroft Sent: Friday, March 19, 2004 4:25 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [Ntop] configure error 'pcap_open_live() in -lpcap...no' on Mandrake 8.2 Dear Sir, I am writing to thank you for your letter and hope that someone more knoweldgable will correct me, On Fri, Mar 19, 2004 at 04:14:02PM +0800, Munkhbayar.B wrote: > Hi there. > I got trouble installing "ntop-3.0pre2" on Mandrake 8.2-Linux(MNF 8.2). > Kernel version is "2.4.18-8.1mdksecure" ^ == something done to libpcap ? > > ./configure says "pcap_open_live() in -lpcap...no" what should I do? > If you have a libpcap on your system then does nm | grep pcap_open_live show any lines ? On this Mandrake [EMAIL PROTECTED] stanley]$ cd /usr/lib [EMAIL PROTECTED] lib]$ ls libpcap* 0 libpcap.so.0@ 120 libpcap.so.0.7* [EMAIL PROTECTED] lib]$ uname -a Linux kimba.aipo.gov.au 2.4.19-16mdk #1 Fri Sep 20 18:15:05 CEST 2002 i686 unknown unknown GNU/Linux [EMAIL PROTECTED] lib]$ # Shucks [EMAIL PROTECTED] lib]$ nm libpcap.so.0.7 | grep pcap_open_live nm: libpcap.so.0.7: no symbols [EMAIL PROTECTED] lib]$ nm libpcap.so.0.7 | more nm: libpcap.so.0.7: no symbols [EMAIL PROTECTED] lib]$ So forget the latter advice and focus on the code in config.log that is failing. Perhaps a better suggestion is to look at the contents of the ldconfig. Unfortunately, I don't know how on Linux to display this. You may have a system that is crippled for ntop in an attempt to make it more secure. > Help me!
