I don't think that sniffing a wireless network is the same as wired. You (normally) are disassociated, and just sniffing packets (if put in promiscuous mode) from different channels, depending on settings.
You might try installing a driver from Wildpackets, as those are meant for sniffing a wireless network. I don't think this is an issue with NTOP.
