As a follow up,
I had downloaded and installed Graphviz
(graphviz-2.21.20080625.1145.pkg) from the pixelglow website and
still got the 'png' error when trying Local Area Traffic Map in ntop.
I went ahead and used macports to install graphviz (sudo port install
graphviz) then went into the ntop preferences and changed location of
the dot file from usr/local/bin/dot to /opt/local/bin/dot. Local Area
Traffic Map works fine now.
