Yah, you really want DOS, running on the bare metal, for a recovery effort like this. Fortunately, DOS can boot from floppy, so you don't need to do anything special. Just put the disk in and reboot. Until circa 2005, we did have a piece of test equipment that only worked with 720 KB DD floppies. A HD disk formatted at 720 KB wouldn't work. I had to hunt down old stock on eBay. -- Ben
