Nexus 7's are really cheap right now and still getting Android updates. Most Android apps and games are free if you don't mind the ads. Do some searching....100 bucks tops.

As it is they are only allowed to play games (on our phones or tablet) on weekends, but I want it to be more than a toy/game I want it to be educational as well so I was contemplating a kindle. Ipad's are definitely out of running , so any other thoughts/suggestions are welcomed. thanks
