had the same problem on my W2K box. I tried several re-installs, and I figured
out SP2 was the culprit. I would not even put anything on the box, just sp2
right after install, then IIS 5 would quit. I would take a few hours though. I
looked at my logs, and the IIS service would be restarted every minute for 150
minutes or so, then it just wouldn’t start any more. I just did a
re-install, and applied SP1 with all IIS hotfixes. I
am guessing it has something to do with my computer hardware configuration. No
other explanation. -----Original Message----- you know, I'm seeing the
same thing on one of my IIS 5.0 box and I've already applied the latest
cumulative patch on Windows 2000 Server SP2. Even after the services
stop, when I run the Code Red scanner from Symantec and eEye, they both come
out negative...
