I wouldn't discriminate against anyone based on age when recruiting, and I've never experienced any, but at 35 I guess it would be unlikely for me to experience it yet.
I work with a couple of guys who are in their 50s and the experience they have is invaluable. Having said that, there are also some 50 (and 60) -somethings in the Apps team downstairs and they are useless. Age is immaterial - there are good and bad staff in both young and old camps. I'd be more inclined to think that there's a bit of sexism rather than age-ism in the IT sector, but that's just my own experience. But I hardly ever seem to work with ladies (more's the pity). Don't know whether that's down to discrimination or just the fact that as a rule girls don't seem to be interested in IT as a career, particularly at the more technical levels (no sexism intended there, before all the technically-minded ladies on the list flame me).
