That's exactly why I like working in the mid-size space. You get to/have to touch everything.
You will likely never become an expert in anything (except solving problems) but you'll become much more aware of what's out there in the world. The downside is that you're less likely to have the luxury of time and/or money to dedicate to training while on the clock - most smaller companies run very lean.
