That assumes that theory has no practical value. And while that’s sometimes the case, it’s not always true.
In working on my master’s in management information systems, I learned a lot of theory with practical value. I took courses on things like project management, organizational behavior, operations management, and IT security that all taught theories that can be directly applied to my job. My bachelor’s? Well, that’s another story. I majored in English, and I’ll readily concede that that degree has a bit less practical value unless you go on to teach the subject. :) John Hornbuckle, MSMIS, PMP MIS Department Taylor County School District www.taylor.k12.fl.us From: Daniel Rodriguez [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2012 11:31 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Re: OT - ugh! … The thing about going to college, is, they only teach theory.
