If staff are in the middle of using the CRM app, and use it to send an
email, it will not work unless Outlook is already started and running as an
administrator. The operation fails, saying something about it being busy,
or please switch to the other app.

Apparently we need to run the CRM app as an administrator, otherwise it
won't talk with the backend SQL2000 database. Since it has to run as an
administrator to do that, then we have to run Outlook as an administrator
as well, or we get the failure above.

However, this afternoon while screwing around - uh, performing scientific
tests - we have found that if the CRM app is installed at the root of C:\
in its own directory, but not installed in either C:\Program Files or
C:\Program Files (x86), the entire problem disappears - it talks with the
SQL2000 server, sends email, etc, running with starndard user permissions -
standard that is, given that all users are members of the local
Administrators group.

So, this looks like a permissions issue with the directory into which the
CRM app is installed.

And, 5 minutes of testing - giving the users read-write permissions on the
install directory under C:\Program Files (x86) - confirms that I've solved
the problem. Now they can run both the CRM app and Outlook with the
permissions given them.

Sigh.

It's been a long week, already, and I had the holiday off...

Thanks,

Kurt
