See if those machines have any apps in common that store data in WMI. Maybe there's corrupted data.

Its been on all of the computers I've tried so far (about a dozen so
far).

If I look in task manager, rundll32 has taken up a HUGE amount of memory
and it just runs and runs...and runs some more.

My wild guess is that is is scanning C:\WINDOWS\$hf_mig$\ to see what
updates have been already been installed (or not), so it can create a
to-do list of what files it actually needs to patch.
