I kind of look at it like this:

Dell: Kind of a scam on the sales side. They show you the best price around,
but unless you are a knowledgeable shopper, you are going to end up with a
crappy warranty. That actually took me a long time to figure out. Laptops
are not easily serviced by a home user, so you better know what you are
doing when shopping. But if you do get their super extreme deluxe pro
warranty, you will get the best support they have to offer.

Lenovo: Be prepared to pay a premium up front. But know that you will get
the absolute best service available. No questions asked.

You pay up front or pay in the end. It's all good.

Based on your past messages in this thread, I would have to
disagree. Comments like "I can definitely say without a doubt that
IBM blows the doors of Dell", and "far as I am concerned Dell support
is mediocre at best" seem pretty argumentative to me.

IBM's base warranty price is also significantly higher than Dell.
Again: If you want cheap service, Dell is happy to give it to you.
Your whole issue with Dell seems to be based on the fact that they
gave exactly what was asked for and paid for.
