Well, in my case, it was over-writing 8.1.2, installing 8.1.1, then trying 
to re-install 8.1.2.  Besides really really long re-boots, the crappy 
Adobe installer tended to leave us with systems with no reader at all 
(except, thankfully, for FoxIT Reader!).
