Yah, truth be told, none of the carriers are really all that good, and I've heard no end of horror stories about all of them. We've gotten the worst from VZW, though. I expect this is luck of the draw. > I'm not familiar with the pricing, but I have no complaints with Verizon's > bills. We've done some price proposals. For us, Verizon was, by far, the most expensive, out of Sprint, Nextel, AT&T and VZW. (When we did the math, it was going to cost us 3-4 times as much per month if we switched from Nextel to Verizon.) When asked about this, all their sales reps will say is some variation on, "We're the best carrier out there, so don't expect bargain basement pricing". We still had some VIPs who had to have Verzion (I guess so they could have that guy in the hardhat follow them around). So they got the latest BlackBerry 8830's from Verizon. We discovered that Verizon had disabled the ability of applications (like BlackBerry Maps) to obtain GPS location data. Their explanation -- in an official letter from "Verizon Corporate Relations" -- was that the GPS radio had not completed compatibility testing with their CDMA network. Of course, the E911 service depends on the GPS radio, and that's mandated by federal law. And Sprint offers the same phone, and doesn't disable GPS, and that phone can roam onto Verizon's towers. The reality appears to be that Verizon wants to charge us $10/month/phone for their "VZ Navigator" service (GPS+maps+audible directions). But they hadn't VZ Nav to work on the 8830 yet. To keep people from possibly using a competitor's product, they just disabled the GPS API. And, of course, there is this: http://verizonmath.blogspot.com/ I can confirm that our Verizon bills still have confusion over orders of magnitude. Not dollars vs cents, but kilobytes vs kilobits, and K vs M vs units. They never give the same explanation twice in a row, so it's pretty clear their reps don't know. -- Ben ~ Upgrade to Next Generation Antispam/Antivirus with Ninja! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbelt-software.com/SunbeltMessagingNinja.cfm> ~
