I have an NBX (low end 3Com) telephone switch and we have them on a mixture of Cisco POE and non-POE switches. When we were putting in our VOIP setup we were told to look at the backplane through put on the switches and get the best we could afford. The phones would only use 100Mb at most for the speed but the backplane was what usually caused issues with phones on a non-dedicated network.
