U still can do this with sysprep and slick scripting.
Sysprep can insert plenty mass storage drivers, then clean out the unused ones once it finishes. As an example what I did with ris a while ago (applies here to): For inf updates and machine specific updates, you can script something that deduces the platform then runs a script to populate the registries runonce to install all the specifics.
