HELL YES !!! If the room is 89, imagine what the temp is on the outside of
the spinning hard drive cases ...

Start by shutting down all non-critical systems .... Including ALL
CRTS/LCDs, extra lamps/light fixtures in the room... Do an orderly shutdown
to avoid corrupting data...

You may see no immediate problems from the heat, but I'll bet that the life
of your hard drive spindles is already shortened.. They may not fail today,
or tomorrow, but will fail a lot sooner than if they had not overheated...
No way to relube the spindles... And too much localized thermal stress can
cause microchips to warp and separate, also not a good thing, capacitors
will overheat, bulge, and potentially burst...

Subject: Its 89 degrees in our server room!!!

Our AC has been down all day and are servers and equipment are pretty toasty
feeling. Would you guys shut yours down? Doing so would cause the company to
be serverly impacted, but they would be more impacted if some of them
meltdown.
