I had the old part number and ordered two 5405's. Bios was most recent.
Installed them and upon booting it said "You need the 5000p chipset to support
these procs, Halting..."

Got what I thought was the new mobo, and put the procs in, and it wouldn't even
boot? It does boot with the old 5110 proc though.

I think I have verified that the new mobo is correct. What's odd is that if
they shipped the old version by accident, I assume it should still post and
indicate it is halting like my original did? I think something else is wrong
since it wont even post?

Well, actually there is two part numbers.
The very first 380 G5's didnt support the QC's (5000 chipset versus 5000p I
guess). You also need a recent bios version. I had the first, and even with the
newest bios they didnt work :(

Spare Part #:

436526-001

Non Quad Core Spare Part #:

407749-001

This is what Iam told by HP...

In the G5’s the mobo’s are the same for QC and DC.

I am trying to deduce if a new mobo in a DL380 G5 supports Quad Cores, it is
said it should be 436526-001. I don't have ilo access atm (not configured), I
only have rdp access.

Any ideas? I looked for an Intel Chipset identification util as the original
mobo should be a 5000 series and this one should be a 5000p but it doesn't seem
they make one for those series.

Any help would be great!
