I believe June 18 is the Microsoft cut-off date, after which OEMs
are not allowed to sell Windows XP licenses. Dell has said they will
continue to sell computers with Windows XP pre-installed and supported
after that date. However, they are sold with Windows Vista licenses.
Microsoft's "Downgrade Rights" makes that legit. I read that Dell
will be shipping Windows XP media with such orders. I don't know if
they will also include Windows Vista media or not.

Dell claims they will be continuing to offer support and drivers for
Windows XP. I'm sure third-parties will vary quite a bit.

Where I am, we've been ordering Vista licenses all along, since they
cost the same. But we've been re-installing with our standard XP
image. When Dell starts offering that as an explicit option, if the
price is not prohibitive, I intend to make use of it. That way Dell
will have direct evidence of customer demand for XP support, which
will hopefully encourage them to continue supporting XP.
