I've been very happy with my Toshiba Satellite U205 that I got a few years ago, I paid just a bit more for a smaller (12") screen, maybe the u400 ( http://explore.toshiba.com/laptops/satellite ) , very portable, lightweight but full power/capability ... Personally, I'd like one of the 8"-10" screen lightweight laptops, but they are a bit underpowered for everyday use, even though great for portability/travel And remember that you can always dock the laptop on a desk with a larger monitor, real keyboard/mouse, etc

I'm looking for a light laptop for home/work use. My wife is a college professor and she currently has this enormous (heavy) laptop she lugs to work to connect to the smart carts. She needs a new one, and I'd like to get her a light unit that she can use at work but also at home (so screen can't be too small). I'd like to keep the cost below $2k. At work I purchase Lenovo X series for staff and they are pretty nice, but at around 5.5 pounds a little more heavy than I'd like. Suggestions appreciated. I'm most used to Dell, HP, and IBM/Lenovo. So many sites review laptops and none give the same ratings of course.
