Check for bulging capacitors. Do you have any extra MEM sticks to test
with? If there are multiples in the server, pull all out but one and
try to boot. Try each one, one by one.

Subject: Odd Dell PowerEdge issue

Hi Folks,

I have an out-of-warranty Dell PowerEdge 1850. I *think* the power
supply has failed. I had to down the system for 30 minutes or so, then
attempted to power it on. I cannot be certain since, oddly, there are
no error lights or anything. All I get is a blue blinking status light,
which is "general error" according to Dell's voluminous docs. No beeps,
buzzes, whistles, etc. There is no disk activity, but the rear fans
come one as soon as the power cables are engaged.

I don't mind replacing the power supply, but I want to somehow verify.
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
