Check hosts (DNS) and LMHOSTS (NetBIOS) files. Run NSLOOKUP (or better yet, DIG.EXE from ISC BIND) on the short and FQDN names. This will tell you what DNS is seeing. Run "NBTSTAT -a" on the short name.
