That is very true. Had installed a D600 with 512 MB for a traveler.
After putting McAfee antivirus on there it was unusable, thrashing.

Show me a modern and widely-used web browser that's not a memory hog.
(IE6 isn't modern; Chrome, Opera and Safari aren't widely used)

It's not hard to get FF 3 up to 250 or 300MB.

It's better than FF 1, 1.5 and 2 though. I don't need 3GB in my machine
just to run without swapping anymore - 1GB for FF < 3, 1GB for
Thunderbird 1.x and 2.x, 1GB for everything else!
