There are cards that can do multiple things. We have cards that are a) proximity for some building access b) smart cards (not proximity based) for computer access (requires a pin) c) biometric for some locations within the building. They have the capability to use bio for computers, but we haven't implemented that part d) certificate storage (encryption and 802.1x) e) single sign on (but it was so problematic we didn't implement)
Our cards and software are from RSA. RSA is no longer manufacturing and selling cards.
