Z, you get an excruciatingly slow web-based interface in 4.0 for management. We didn't actually do a migration, just an install of the new version on a different server. I can tell you, go with the full blown SQL server, don't do any of the other options. We did the MSDE first, and within a couple of weeks had run out of database space and had to do a new install with the full blown SQL database.
