we have the following scenario:

inherited whitbox server, intel motherboard, adaptec 29160N scsi controller, 2
Seagate Cheetah 36GB drives.
one hard drive failed giving a medium error when booting and the scsi
controller gives this message upon post.
we ordered and received a fujitsu 36GB map3367np HDD, changed the pinout in
order to make it scsi id 1, current drive is scsi id 0; well when we do this
the current good drive gives us the medium error message and is not seen by the
OS (Windows 2003 std); we have tried all sorts of different combinations but
cannot get the scsi controller to see the original Seagate drive as ID 0, and
the Fujitsu drive as ID 1 simultaneously, we have tried changing the cable to
no avail as this causes the same scenario as above. the only thing i have not
tried is replacing scsi controller (no adaptec 29160N laying around).

Any help in getting this resoled would be greatly appreciated.
