Thanks Ben, i will try your suggestions. one thing though is that the Seagate drive does not have the pins like the fujitsu, but i will try the different settings. we did change cable and found that the same issues occurred. the medium error on the one drive that i know is good is because that is the drive that boots when it everything is set to its original state and Windows 2003 server boots fine and no errors found in the event viewer. a cooleague might have a controller from another server around and i will try that too.
