Like I said all of my test/live restores have not produced any corruption issues. ymmv

Some options I use/have used are scripts that shutdown the vm, snapped the store/rdm/etc then restarted the vm which gave me infinite time to backup the image. It even has the ability to do a file restore from a mounted image.
