DK how many ws there are, maybe 20, they have 2 other servers
(obviously not DCs), it probably would be better (in my opinion) to
just rebuild the whole mess considering it was a W2K functional level
but my friend is going to try the restore. Thanks all for the
comments, any more are welcome ( I have the Blackberry),have a great

Coming in later here. How many workstations/servers in the domain? If
not so many may be easier/quicker to install new DC and rejoin the hosts.

If this is the only DC, has a good backup, and he will be using the
same hardware, he might be OK. What backup software were they using ?

And no it’s not mine, I know better! I got a call from a friend asking
me if there was any way to recover a domain controller (only one, W2K,
HP Blade I believe) from an unbootable C: drive. There is a system
state backup, is that enough to do a recovery? I personally have never
had to recover from such robust stupidity so I really don’t know but
my initial thought is they’re screwed. If anyone can tell me
differently it would be most appreciated.
