If you are installing ESX on the bare hardware make sure all your
firmware is up to date.  Perc, bios, and even the hard drives themselves
have updates.  It makes all the difference in the world.

        We have 2 x Dell servers
        
        Dell poweredge 2950
        3 x raid 5 drives 1 x hotspare each disk is 73gb
        The machines are using the internal Dell perc5i integrated raid
        controller
        
        Both have the same problem
        When installing VMWARE and creating a cople of virtual machines
once
        these are running the server seems to freez for upto 2 minutes
then
        contines processing, of course this causes problems I am curious
if this
        has happened to anyone else
