I had that problem once myself. Taking the machine out of the domain and adding it back seemed to take care of the problem. Also, the UPH Cleanup tool helped. Ultimately, what fixed it was replacing the machine. There did not appear to be any malware or virus or anything like that on the machine. It probably just needed a clean copy of Windows.
The machine I had problems with was Windows XP SP2. -----Original Message----- From: David W. I've had something similar happen before when a quarterly cleanup script got inadvertently run on some staff machines in addition to student. -----Original Message----- From: David W. All 10 are up from replacement this month anyways. I think they just got moved to the front of the class. Still would like to know what's up. I will take a look at their events when I get them down here for reghost. ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Rankin" <[email protected]> To: "NT System Admin Issues" <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, September 02, 2009 9:58 AM Subject: Re: User Profile missing after windows updates I think the original post mentioned they were disabled....looks pretty bad I once had a WSUS GPO go all funky on me and for some reason the computers went "running home to mama" and immediately started downloading and installing all sorts of stuff from Windows Update. long shot but might be worth checking the Auto Updates settings in the registry. 2009/9/2 Steven M.
