I have the DisplayLink USB video cards in production. Easy to implement, mostly reliable and cheep. The problem most people have is that our XP boxes don't recognize it upon each boot. Unplugging the USB and putting it back it does fix that problem.
http://www.displaylink.com/shop/index.php?product=5 I have the IOGear and the EVGA Plus +16. Both use the same hardware and drivers. They can push a 19" easily with a DVI connection. Usually running around 60-70/ea. Before I purchased the USB video cards I tried to use two video cards. If you go down this road, I'd suggest that you use the same manufacture for both cards. (New phone system takes up a screen, and they need two others for casework). Does anyone have a suggestion for a relatively cheap desktop-level (office apps, no 3D, no games) video card that handles 3 monitors... or have you tried it and decided on two cards instead?
