I think what is being spoken of is the copper to the pole.

With my order, they simply removed the external connection to the copper
that Comcast had laid down, and they used much of the internal copper
that I had (especially since most of it was new)

You *can* keep the copper.  You just have to tell them during order.
And it doesn't hurt to be home when they do the external work and remind
the installation technician.
At least I was able to anyway.
