I can't believe they would sabotage the bell lines.  I thought by law you
were supposed to be allowed at minimum a RBOC dialtone for emergency dialing
(911)?

You *can* keep the copper.  You just have to tell them during order.  And it
doesn't hurt to be home when they do the external work and remind the
installation technician.
At least I was able to anyway.
