you can do a site to site VPN between the firewalls that doesn't care what the endpoint systems are, whether Windows, Mac, HP JetDirect, etc ... The VPN only carries TCP/IP traffic through to the other side.
Do you know about the internet connections from both locations and what firewalls they use ?
