I had to do this a while ago, and what I did was run a Backup against
the files, and then restore them removing the ACL. This was on xp
though.

Subject: Taking ownership of User Dir on vista hard drive

I've never had issues with this before but this one has me stumped. I
have a drive out of a users vista pc that died. In the past I've been
able to take ownership of the users or Doc/settings dir and get the
files copied off but for some reason this one won't let me. I can try
to take ownership but it won't do it. Tried on an XP and Vista machine.
Google is failing me, any ideas?
