An HDS SAN w 6TB for 20K?

A TRUE HDS SAN is a tier 1 storage product.

I can't even accurately guess, but with the needed tools, apps, etc, you are
looking at maybe $500K. Plus it would have to be professionally installed.
You are not going to be able to touch that thing. Except for provisioning.

I just don't buy it.

It would be interesting for you to post the specific model/config.

Also, I would urge you to stick with a local VAR. You are going to need help
standing this thing up, training, and in the event the whole thing tips
over, someone you can call in a hurry to come help.

In the interest of full disclosure and as you know, I work for a NetApp VAR
(wrong coast for you), and when we do an install, its top to bottom, with
training, and troubleshooting along the way. Also when a customer has a
problem, we are often the first person they call.

Ahh. Got a sales guy who used to work for CDW who thinks he can hook me up
with two dual-controller SANs, including on-board replication for a hair
over $20K. That's for about 6 Terabytes. I'll ask for more info in that
case. J

Hitachi (HDS) makes some awesome SANs. One of the tier 1 providers. Tier 1
price as well.

Just wondering if any of you have heard of NexSan? What about Hitachi?? Any
thoughts on either of these as a SAN vendor? I'm still trying to find
someone who'll really "wow" me with their product and give me what I need
for a price I can afford and get Management to sign off on. J
