I'm pretty sure that the underlying virtualization environment doesn't
matter.  For example, you can buy Datacenter licenses (per proc only, btw)
for your ESX/vSphere hosts and an run unlimited MS VMs on them.  My
understanding is that you purchase the required licenses and 'assign' them
to the processors in the VMware (or whatever hypervisor you use).  As long
as you've got the right number of licenses you're good to go.  Here is a
