The article lists their salaries...what does that have to do with anything 
other than possibly pissing off people that make less?

So far, they are home while being paid.  Good time to get a job hunt going.

If they were smart, they already have documentation saying that they didn't 
think it was a good idea, OR, showing that they were only operating it for its 
intended use -- tracking stolen laptops.

And they already have lawyers involved.   So, it remains to be seen who the 
losers will be.

The fact that their names are already out there is a liability for them in a 
job search, though, but it might not be necessary at this point.
