Built myself from components, under $1000 with 6gb RAM and 1TB disk. I've since added more disks to it. IIRC the Intel i7 (920) was about $200 at MicroCenter, another $200 for the Exabyte mobo ( usable gbit NIC and Video onboard ), another $200 and change for the DDR3 RAM, under $100 for the disk, under $100 for the Antec quiet case ( rubber mounts for drives ) under $50 for DVD-CD read/write drive
