An x64 box with as much RAM as you can afford with ESXi or Hyper-v R2. Then for storage connect it to a Synology \ ix2000 or Drobo box over ISCSI or NFS (esxi only). They can double as backup targets for external clients and internal DLNA media servers for ps3\xbox\iphone etc
