So far, I've had good luck. I've got a 6 TB Drobo S on our video surveillance
system and as I mentioned, a Drobo Elite.

The Elite took me a while to figure out because I'd never worked with iSCSI
before. I have it attached to about 4 Win2003 servers via a 2nd Gig NIC in each
attached to an HP Gig switch.

So far, it's been performing well. Things I particularly like about it...

* No trays or carriers, just shove the drive in.
* While it's available for use to the servers it's attached to, I also share it
out as a target for Acronis images.
* I currently have (7) 2 TB WD2002FYPS drives in it but it's no big deal to
plug anything in. I've mixed some drives in it prior to putting it into service
* I had to replace one of the 2 TB drives and the system rebuilt without any
interruption to availability (though it did run slower).
* I'm currently using dual drive redundancy so if one drive fails, the array is
still protected from a 2nd drive failure.
* I haven't tried this but you can put drives back in any order and the system
will work correctly.
Things I don't like...

* Reboots and volume mounting can be pretty slow.
* Administrative utility doesn't see Drobo for a couple of minutes after system
reboots. I don't know if this is the Drobo or the MS iSCSI components causing
the delay.

Subject: Speaking of storage --> who uses Drobo?

Speaking of Drobo (in the storage thread), who all here has used one? I saw the
product when it first came out and the idea seemed REALLY cool, but I could
never shake the nagging feeling that something just wasn’t right about it
compared to traditional RAID setup, so I’ve stayed away.

Unwarranted FUD, on my part?
