Problem is, Iron Mountain (and similar) is not an option for all of us.

I work in the same town as a major university.  The next largest employers 
are a hospital complex and a publishing company.  I have queried IT folks 
at each about off-site storage.

Iron Mountain does not come within 50+ miles of here.  (They are more than 
happy to store anything we can get to them, and they do shred paper for us 
once per month, but that's all they'll do for us.)

Each of the organizations owns land "off campus", where they have a 
building with a safe.  No, they will not let us "rent space".

All we are able to do is have our tapes in a nearby bank deposit box (only 
slightly better than nothing).

Of coarse, all this is rather irrelevent as, they guy really wants to know 
how to back up 2 Tb data to portable storage...
