Did I imply that it needed to be networked? I was asking if he _wanted_ to
use an IP camera. Analog cameras are a valid option as well.
DVR isn't necessary, either... depending on his needs. Many cameras will
record to a local to the camera SD card now. If something happens, retrieve
the SD card and see what it recorded.

Why does it need to be networked? You network the DVR not the cameras.

What kind of conditions will the cameras be in? How cold will it get?
What kind of budget are you looking at?
What is going to be the recording backend?
