My understanding is incomplete, but I believe: This depends somewhat on jurisdiction. Different states have different laws. And unless a formal policy is already in place, it may be open to legal argument. Here, our policy handbook says everything done on a company PC is property of the company. The company lawyer at least glanced at that and okayed it.
